I was too, but that one song 'Tio' has turned into one of my favorites on the album.

Cool. I'm interested to see what you think. Give it a few tries.

Found this album to be embarrassingly bad tbh. Super derivative metalcore chock full of chugging and breakdowns with a misplaced piano, acoustic guitar or drone interlude in between each chug session. It was formulaic to the core. To top it all off, the ongoing spoken word vocal samples that permeate the entire listen add nothing to the quality of the music, only serve to distract and detract from the rest of the experience. The vocals fall short and aren't up to the challenge of matching the rest of the band's attempt to create music that is grandiose and monolithic - an attempt that is failed on both fronts.
If one wants to see this exact sort of experiment done correctly, I recommend something like Devin Townsend's Terria. I really did want to like this one, too.

This is nothing like Terria... nor is it supposed to be anything like it, super odd comparison. This isn't metalcore either. The fact you call this an 'experiment' and 'derivative' and 'formulaic' at the same time baffles me. Nice try at an opinion. I mean, you don't like it, who cares, but your rating is unjustified and your ignorant criticism makes absolutely no sense lol

Thanks FantasticDangler. I laughed when I saw that rating and then he called it metalcore. Then, after some totally of the mark descriptions, he calls Terria 'this exact sort of experiment' despite the two albums having nothing in common.

tbh i am agreeing with his assessment of the vocals - they sound really apathetic, weak and bland. i'm really not getting anything out of this band's riffing style either, finding it pretty tedious to sit through even though i can tell a lot of construction went into it.

I like the vocals more than a lot of the overly emotional whiny stuff you hear a lot in the genre. For example I liked the new Earthside album but I wasn't a fan of a lot of the vocals.

The vocals are much better than they used to be. On each album they've definitely improved.
--Album is all over the place.--
Yeah, it requires attention and repetition in order to fully appreciate.

Really good album. I'll definitely have to sit with it a couple times. 2016 is shaping up to be a really strong year already.

Glad to see people are giving it a chance instead of a 'one-and-done'.

Didn't really want to check them out because of the bandname ant the atmospheric tag, but this is really great!
