Thanks man and agreed. Challenger pt2 is one of the best post rock songs I've ever heard.

Different strokes dude. Don't really know what to tell you. How many times have you listened to this? I came back to this after a long ass time and now I can't stop listening.

i've listened to it 3 times now. i'm almost contemplating a 4th because it bothers me so much that people love this lol. this is like a less interesting the world is not a cold dead place to me - one amazing song surrounded by mediocre ones (although i have a feeling we disagree about that album too)

Well, actually we disagree about two things then, this is much better haha And I do love that album btw. Sounds so much more natural and the guitar tones are more interesting.

post-rock can honestly be the most boring genre of music. hammock keeps my interest about 90% of the time because their melodies are otherworldly and they incorporate vocals too. i've heard a lot of so-called heralded post-rock classics (like the explosions one) that have been pretty w/e.

the guitar tones are indeed excellent though, and i love your hand in mine - enough so to learn it on guitar and piano :P so there's that i guess!

I'm completely serious when I see that I find most post rock hard to hate. By far my favorite genre ever. I totally understand some hate for it though cause not everyone has as much patience to get some pay off, which is definitely why post metal gets hate too. Among other reasons. I've loved many of the classics too and this is definitely among them.

I just don't see the love fest for this album. Standard post rock. I think it gets excess props from reviewers because of the back story to the album. Anyways, great review and thanks.

It does feel special to me due to the back story of the album, I can't deny that. But the quality of the music here is top notch, we can feel that these are group of guys that lost someone dear to them and transferred their feelings into music, and it is some of the best music released last year

It'd still be impressive without any back story, but it certainly affects the emotional weight of the content.

I see you Mongi. Nice review. I bought the full set of artwork from this, framed them, and stuck em all over my house. The full experience on display here is a rare one indeed.

I guess it's weird to feel like album artwork is super important but each piece feeds off the others, and each aspect feeds off each other. The stories, the artwork and the music each separately are great. But all together they become something much greater.

Put it all together in your brain and it melts out your fucking ears lol

Agree hard about Swan Song. I always imagine all the good and brave things that people do. Doctors without Borders and Red Cross volunteers bringing aid, teachers teaching in 3rd world countries, soldiers storming beaches, firefighters running into burning buildings, families sitting and laughing at the dinner table.

After all the pain and loss and death of the first 4 tracks, Swan Song reminds you that's it's not for nothing.
