The re record has me wondering why I put this on the bottom of my abr list.

The re-record is phenomenal and I’m only on track 2 😂. Be prepared as I live post thoughts and feelings.
Speech Impediment is so filthy. Always been one of my favorites. Those call and response guitar parts in the breakdown are amazing

When P&H came on I was like wth is this, and it was also super familiar and I was like how do I know this. Had to google and saw it was from a Solid State sampler called Youngbloods II from back in the day.

I had never heard it before. There's a few songs I haven't been able to find again from those samplers. The acoustic versions of Anchors by Secret and Whisper and Fractions by Emery

Man, those old Solid State and Tooth & Nail samplers were fun sometimes, especially when they had songs that weren't released on albums

after revisiting this i can confidently say everything sounds clearer and more energetic on the new version, Josh sounds great here but the instrumentation took a step up in the new one especially. their more current sound may come off as "overproduced" but I feel it better translates their energy than what was available to them here - why I also find myself jamming the remixes of Messengers and Constellations more tbh

i think the vocal performances about equal out and it's the instrumentals / production that stepped up, matt's drums sound punchier than ever on the new one

I'm actually not a fan of the drum sound, I love some punchy drums but they sound overly pumped up by the production to the point where they sound a bit weird. I think Jake is better but his voice has definitely aged a lot, there's definitely a hoarse quality to his mid range in particular.

i think that overly pumped up sound applied more to like phantom anthem than this personally, this was a better balance

Both rip. I can’t say one is necessarily better, just different strokes. I probably prefer the louder clearer sound of the new one, agree about the energy being conveyed, but this one is also pretty timeless. Both are great.
To be honest my biggest gripe on the new one is that Jake screams “the stars begin to fall” from “far away” and I always thought that whisper on this version beat ass. Small gripe but I MUCH prefer the whisper lol. Also there is like a brief pause after that whisper before it hits. On the new one it comes straight in. I feel like the magnitude of it was kinda blown

I knew they were gonna fuck up seventh trumpet. Probably the best mid 00’s metalcore album closer and you blew it smh

thrill seeker re-recording is great
I wonder if they'll try to redo messengers and constellations in some capacity because those albums had some real boring riffage
give them the leveler treatment or something
