These guys fucking tore down the building when I saw them play. Hometown heroes opening for a big band does demand such a reaction, but these guys took full advantage of the situation.
This album has grown on me too. It goes so hard.

There's some slower moments, but the abrasive songs here are awesome. First three tracks are fucking great.

saw these guys open for Dillinger a couple months back. the crowd really seemed to dig them, which was awesome because i was a little skeptical if Dillinger crowd would care for this type of music.

Where did you see them?

El Corazon in Seattle.
They toured with Dillinger, O Brother, and Entheos. The crowd was most psyched to see Dillinger obviously but Cult Leader was the clear number two.

Yeah, that's cool. I saw that tour too, but CL is from my hometown so I already knew the reception would be good here. Nice to hear they got some love abroad. They seem to be getting some good exposure.
I read that they won't tour much this year since they are writing a new album so I'm really trying to find a way to go see them this weekend.

Ah, Salt Lake guy, yeah? Friend of mine who does band photography is from there as well and I'm pretty sure she's done nearly every local show CL has played. Cant' miss her: long hair with a severe buzzcut on one side.
These guys are coming up to the NW again for a fest in June but I can't wait for any new stuff.
Edit: matter of fact, first comment on this review is a link to her photos of their local album release show

Yep, Salt Lake is pretty cool. I hit a lot of local shows so I'm sure I'll see her around. I hope the new stuff rips like this does.

I saw them on that Dillinger tour as well and pretty much no one cared about them at all. No one really cared for O'Brother either.

O'Brother had a terrible set list. I don't know what they were thinking. Where'd you catch that tour?

When I saw them Cult Leader were amazing, but the crowd seemed to favor Car Bomb. Hard to say though, since CB came on afterwards so the crowd was bigger. I love O'brother but I was disappointed at how lame Complicated End Times sounded live. And yeah they definitely could've chosen a better setlist for that kinda crowd.

they really, really, really want to take their Kozelek influences to the next level. don't really care for the move but we'll see...

Yeah, not terribly excited about that kind of change in sound depending on how far they take it. But, you never know. Maybe it will just vary their sound enough to make them more interesting.
I'd be fine with them only slamming out their brutal shit without much atmosphere or slowing down, tbh. They do that well.

Where did you guys hear that? Didn't see anything about post rock on their fb.

"The Sorrower" is still the most satisfying punch to the face. What a beast of a song. Easily my favourite by these guys.
