i actually find pretty daze to be at least 10 minutes too long, the lumpier rock tunes like kv crimes were really boring to me. this has more of the intricate fingerpicking stuff as on smoke ring but with cleaner production which i feel suits him surprisingly well

i feel like pretty daze was more consistent (and the t/t + goldtone are fucking godlike tunes) but if there's anything i couldn't accuse this of it's monotony - has to be his most eclectic record since childish prodigy even though the overall vibe is a bit sleepier



honestly in the context of his discog pretty daze is a bit of a (really really great) outlier - this feels like a more natural followup to smoke ring imo
