Yeah aside from the two songs I mentioned this album is full of clever writing and production imo; its pretty refreshing. Also yeah Imma rate this after my first listen. I feel pretty strongly about it already.

Not bad. It's a little different from the normal formulaic pop format, and it doesn't hurt that she has a great voice. It's cool she didn't grow up listening to 90's pop and went the other way instead. Those influences peek through every now and then and that's why this sticks out.

Well said by the both of you. Those influences could peek out a little more, but not much more, as cohesion would then be thrown out the window.

I would like to see her next album tip the scales in favor of her influences, but I think I know what will happen if she gets big from this. In either case, this sounds like a good debut album. I'll have to get around to giving it a full listen, as I have only heard about half the songs.
I'm a little surprised I even listened to this, let alone like it.
Good review by the way

Thanks Thrash. Tbh, I'm unsure this LP will make her all that big. I guess it depends on the definition of "big". As for her influences, they're all over her debut EP, if you can manage to check it out. But that's both a pro & a con.

From what I heard the last time you mentioned her, she's a little too electronic for my taste.

u mean u actually checked a track or do u just mean that how i described her made her sound too electronic?
i know i mentioned nods to the knife and industrial music on her album but she's no more electronic than the song u just linked me here or say Carly Rae even for the most part. She is influenced by electronic, but its still a pretty much just a pop alb, even if its stunningly eclectic compared to most.

I checked out 2 songs from memory. The one that stuck out was what I presume the single that had a really strong & loud beat.
EDIT: Look What You've Done was it. And yeah, there is an industrial vibe there. I've never been a huge fan of industrial tbh.

It looks like 'Motel' is getting more love than I thought. It took me many listens to get into it... But maybe I'm just slow.

Just think it's really cool and pree chill

Is it me or does "The Morning After" remind anyone else of Thrice - "The Lion and the Wolf"? I think it's a mix of her vocal melody and the fact that she mentions lions in the lyrics. Either way, I really love that track.

You heard it here 1st folks: If you like Thrice, you'll like Meg Myers.
Just kidding jkr. I can see where you're getting the comparison from on that song, but there's probably a whole bunch of other tunes it resembles as well.

I just prefer chiller tracks like Motel to begin with, probably why I'm more partial to it than the two tracks that follow it. That chorus is just sexy
