It's actually pretty good but I have a feeling that its enjoyment depends slightly on the age group that a listener belongs. It's got that typically impeccable Gilmour phrasing and there's variety among the songs.

Thanks mythodea, I think you'll enjoy it

@sowing I'd say it's definitely better than post retirement rocking chair music. Check the title track.

Didn't know what to expect but I've never really appreciated Pink Floyd members' solo releases, especially Gilmour's, which remind me too much of A Momentary Lapse of Reason and always lack something. Waters' songwriting, for example.

Waking up in the morning from a confusing dream, the weather outside is dim and cold. Now it's raining. First day of autumn is here. This album proved to be the perfect soundtrack for today. I fell in love with it immediately.

Album reminds me a bit of Camel's mellower albums, such as Rain Dances and Breathless. Really nice alubm. Didn't expect Gilmour could pull of an album that balanced. I thought it would be another typical Gilmour-era Pink Floyd record. Fortunately, I was proven wrong.

"is it typical post retirement rocking chair music from another legend who forgot to hang up the mic?"

That's 100% what it is. Hardest 2.5 you'll ever give.

The Girl In The Yellow Dress is soooooo good. I play it on repeat, while outside is raining.

Listened to this the other night, really enjoyed it. I'll have to give it another listen before giving it a rating.

Good review though!

don't get me wrong, I like gilmour just fine. I just think he gets a disproportionate amount of praise.

Waters and Gilmore have always felt slightly incomplete without each other. It really is a yin and yang effect. Gilmore brought the excellent solos and Waters brought a lyrical wit.

I'm more of a Waters fanboy, his writing is mainly what's made floyd one of my favorite bands.
