This band just doesn't do anything for me atm. Might change sometime.

White Moth Black Butterfly does suit Dan a lot better imho

I felt the same way until the end. I think this album is gonna pack a punch.

And the concept of the whole thing is chill inducing. A malicious entity, pretending to be human, feeds off the darkest emotions we can experience until it is ready to reveal itself and destroy the world. Come on now.

Yup, King is an incredible song. Luminary was solid, but King reminds me of their peak days with Dan on One.

King is pretty good. Can't have a longer tesseract song without pointless ambience at the end of it though

Phoenix's middle part is so good, holy shit. Don't care too much about the rest of the song, but Dan is a hell of a vocalist. Love this man

Even though this album's second half continues to fall off for me, Hexes takes a stronger and stronger hold on their library. It might be their best work.

Tbh I think this whole album is their best work to date. Every song on here has an identity, whole I have a hard time to tell the songs on AS and One apart

Yeah I mean both of those albums are meant to be album experiences, right? I'm not sure they'll ever top Altered State, but here's hoping they do.

I actually agree with the 'album experience' thing, but many moments on AS and One just seem to have no songwriting, few dynamics and so on.

There are some tracks I would call songs on both of those albums, but on Polaris everything has a purpose, if that makes sense. I enjoy it a whole lot more and I am glad they took this direction.

I would argue with you about the dynamics (The first movement of AS is brilliant) but I agree that Polaris was a step in the right direction. I think, by making distinct songs, it helped them focus ideas in and not overplay or extend them.

If King is any indication, they are learning from both AS and Polaris. And I couldn't be more fucking stoked.
