I wouldn't call it an aesthetic album as much as it is a sarcastically optimistic one. I like the contrast of usually bleak lyricism with pop rock/ metal anthems. I think this album exceeds most in that regard. It keeps a catchiness while holding rather dark themes of addiction, depression and heartbreak. I find sometimes I want that kind of lyricism but not the downtrodden laced instrumentation. I like that this rides that line well.

There was also a great sense of growth from Oli as a songwriter here. I feel this showed a lot of change in his overall persona and mentality from all that he's been through as the band has evolved. I confided most in his personal tribulations he references throughout this album.

If you don't like That's the Spirit, you are in the minority of BMTH fans.

Some of the songs on this are pretty damn awesome (Doomed, Drown, Throne), a few are alright and the rest kinda suck (sorry Benecidal, its true)

In short, it’s a mixed bag and that’s honestly the most I’m hoping for with Amo. I think that’ll be the best possible scenario.

I hang out on many sites and this is literally the only one where people openly shit on That's The Spirit, everybody else I talk to consider it a good album.

I seemed to have successfully conquered this website and more importantly, this forum. Go me! I've changed many minds and have opened many eyes through the process of soaking.

So, with that said...SOAK ON, and after 177 pages, there's only one thing left to say.....

THAT'S ALL THE TIME WE HAVE THIS WEEK! #amo

there's a lot here to like if you don't overanalyze it

in other words if you accept aspects of its shittiness
