that's dumb
you should mention in the review that he only sings like 13% of the time and just kinda mumbles in a stupid rambly voice the rest of the time
i thought from your review that i might enjoy this but it's not musical enough for me 87% of the time when he jams 62 words into the space of 5

You have more than a few typos, and your wording threw me off here and there ("On that record, he explored a pallet of emotions so wide its perplexing that many use the term emotional as a synonym for sad..."). A lot of apostrophe shenanigans too, such as "its" needing to be "it's" in the first paragraph and an unnecessary possessive apostrophe on "musicians'" in the last paragraph. A few more things here and there.
Otherwise, decently good/average review. Being a huge Kozelek fan, I wonder why I haven't taken it upon myself to listen to this. Maybe because Benji didn't resonate with me so much as a lot of my favorites of his.

Whoa. Excellent review. I've always found it difficult to describe why Kozelek's music is brilliant, and I think you've done it perfectly. I love this album.

nice review. don't know the artist at all but it needs some revision.
1st paragraph:
stary-starry
"so wide its perplexing that many use the term" - it's
pallet - palette

As I'm still hesitant to peruse SKM's newest double disc opus, I'm glad to admit that this album definitely pays off once sat down with/time has passed. Admittedly, enjoying the newest Father John Misty outing is somewhat influencing my dusting off of Universal Themes. Some times one needs context to remember why you love an artist, I suppose. *shrugs* This record, with all its glaring faults, definitely sticks out in Kozelek's output in terms of rhythm section usage/ overall attitude. Self indulgent? - sure. Worth it? - it's taken me a couple of years to wrap my head around, so... - maybe.

"Garden of Lavender" is easily one of his best songs.
