I welcome the move into heavier meanacing territory however feel for me this would have been welcomed with even more melodic moments as well to juxtapose the two
I feel overall the album is one real standout track away from being a truly great PL album. I definitely like it, it really has its moments, View from the past I especially am enjoying. Its pretty solid, and agree overall, at the very least its done nothing to tarnish their amazing career.

The best songs are Return to the Sun, No Hope in Sight, An Eternity of Lies, and Victim of the Past. [2]

Agreed, not a weak track to be found. I love how much more dynamic and diverse it is than the last few.

The dynamics are welcome, even if I enjoyed a lot how constantly crushing Tragic Idol was, at the expense of being far less instant than many of their records.
'Beneath Broken Earth' shatters anything, though.

'' I enjoyed a lot how constantly crushing Tragic Idol was, at the expense of being far less instant than many of their records''.
Agreed hard.

Agreed [2] despite it being their weakest of the last decade or so in my opinion. I like their use of keyboards and diversity most, especially since most of their songs have pretty conventional structures.

I like that too, but Tragic Idol clicked immensely with me. In fact, it used to be 2nd fav before this showed up.

Tragic Idol took the longest to click for me. Recently I've been enjoying it almost as much as Faith Divides Us, In Requiem is about on par with them too. I need to hear this more, but currently it's my third favorite after Draconian Times and Icon.

Mhm, this is better than all previous three for me as well, but I guess that's already obvious haha.

I'm cracking down on my ratings recently, so this is very high for me. This just really blew me away, and was their first album since Draconian that never dips in quality in my opinion. Some of the songs are even among their very best, like the middle few and bookends.

I was listening to Beneath Broken Earth on the way to school today, that song gets more and more crushing every time I hear it
