That's what I like about this album. It's experimental and "avant-garde" while still being approachable and not seeming overly messy or random for weirdness sake.

Scotts presence is just spot on! love the production too , im generally happy ive found something avant garde that isnt a meandering snooze fest

The production is top notch, and it's very dynamic stuff. I like how the songs retain a sort of pop center underneath all of the experimentation.

my one and only gripe with this album is the "military band" break in Patriot just messes up the vibe for me

I still dig it, but the really exaggerated vocals in that section caught me off guard at first. The humor is very much intended, though. I love how the bottom completely drops out of the song and it just drifts a bit every chorus before everything fades back in. I love how the albums screws around with song structure and dynamics like that
This album is so close to being a 5 for me, but the track Face on Breast feels slightly weak. Not sure what he was thinking with the vocal delivery in the verses of that one, and there doesn't seem to be as much to chew on in that track.

Agreed with Face on Breast. It's probably the weakest here, in my opinion. I go back and forth between preferring this or The Drift. I didn't really give Soused the chance it deserves. Should probably revisit that.

humor or not , bad is bad.. i really like Face On Breast the creepy monotone guitar is so tense and genius..

Are we talking about the vocals or the whole section? Because I love the military band bursts and the droning.
And yeah, I'm the same about going back and forth between The Drift and this. (I actually said that in a post on this page, so hurray for repetition)

It's definitely coming from a different angle. There are still moments of beauty, though. Especially the opening track
