Did anyone else notice the song titles? They reference powerful females from various movies/anime. I think thats kinda cool and I wonder how that plays in their lyrics. I haven't read them yet.

I think some of it is pitch corrected a little just to give it the "perfect" sound that a lot of bands go for, but it's very subtle and there's nothing wrong with it, because the dude can SING. Like damn, he can sing.

@Asmodeuss yeah, and all of the songs' lyrics' are actually based on the girls in question. It's pretty cool that they went all in instead of just making the titles silly references.

Is this worth checking out if you enjoy the earlier albums?

I've never been a huge fan of these guys, but I really enjoyed ID back in the day.

I got a heavy old-Periphery vibe from the first few tracks, but quite a bit better.

Not digging the vocals at all though.

Taylor Larson did the production here, and he is one of my favorite producers, but he doesnt typically work on anything related to death metal (metalcore, sure, but not DM). So the production elements from that side of the record end up being weirder to process and different-sounding because the melodic stuff takes over a good bit more. I think it was a great choice for the direction they wanted to take, for sure, and Veil has never had a "traditional" producer for their genre.

The more I spin this the more I loathe it. Jeeesus it's a hassle getting till the end.

Aeris and three-fifty are actually pretty cool, but i would have no idea it was veil of maya if I didn't know any better

This is actually pretty decent. They're writing songs now and not just loose collections of riffs.

Because those albums are shit compared to early Periphery while this is a sign of actual improvement for VoM. If it makes you feel better, I was gonna probably give this a 3 anyway.
