This album really does suck. couldn't get through the first 3 songs. it literally sounds exactly like every other one of there records. which coincidentally sound like every other post rock band to come out in recent years.

eh I feel like any time signature can be done well but I really like when time signature changes end up being interesting. like seeing 7/8 change to 3/4, since 7/8 is often divided into a 3/4 with an extra 8th note, the 8th note disappears which makes 7/8 > 3/4 really powerful.

also a 3/4 section into a more powerful, 'epic,' 13/4 (3+3+3+4). The extra quarter note at the end makes it feel slower or swung rather than an extra beat.

Northern-Irish quartet And So I Watch You From Afar liven up their post-rock sound on 4th LP 'Heirs'. More immediate than what the genre is known for, the tunes here are predominantly up-tempo & carry a sunny disposition. As expected, the technical musicianship is well-crafted & the band also do a great job in keeping such a busy album rather cohesive. While things are once more kept tight during the record's 43 minute duration, you still feel that these tunes are best digested in small sittings, making the album one to be admired in the moment, rather than remembered in the future. Recommended Tracks: Animal Ghosts, Run Home, People Not Sleeping & These Secret Kings I Know.

This is my least favorite album of theirs and sadly it's only gotten less interesting the more I've listened to it. There are very few memorable songs and it's overall kind of boring. Nothing beats their self titled and Gangs but at least All Hail had several fun and memorable tracks. I hope their next one is more inspired.

I enjoyed this album quite a bit. The closing track is probably one of my favorite tracks of the year.

I think I'm in the minority on this one though.
