I did, but I took 6 grams of shrooms and put on Lateralus so I couldn't respond then. Also, when Maynard says
"Red and yellow then came to be
Reaching out to me"
Is he talking about McDonald's?

Not to my knowledge, no. Could be, though. If someone was squirting them at him.

No, I don't mean ketchup and mustard I mean he's coming up (walking or driving) and seeing a McDonalds whose colours are red and yellow and it's reaching out to him to go there.

Ahh, sorry, but I feel it is a forgivable misunderstanding.
Also, later he implies 'infinite possibilities' and I don't feel that is very realistic through McDonalds' limited menu.

Limited? They fucking serve breakfast. The metaphor is obvious.

Not really hyped by the new song so far. New Opeth will probably be better

Eh, you'll probably change your mind later. I felt the same way about so many Tool songs when I first heard them. I also change my mind about different songs the more I listen to them. About so many songs in general, really. If I like a song instantly, I usually end up not caring about it that much later.
Like, Reflection was pretty boring to me the first few times I heard it. I actually thought the last stretch of Lateralus wasn't that great until I warmed up to it much later.

I feel like the new song was just basically an intro/connecting track they released just to give people a small taste but not give anything away. It didn't strike me as a single in the same way that "Schism" was.
I know this is almost a meme to say at this point, but I actually do think it will make a shit load more sense when we hear the other 70 minutes of the album.

You have zero context to place this song in. Did they show us Reflection without the rest of the songs with them? No. Why compare the three songs together to this when we have zero idea how this song fits in with the rest of the album? The only reason I compared this to Reflection is that they both have a repetitive, hypnotic feeling to them. You can feel however you want currently about this song, but I don't expect you not to change your feelings about it when you hear the rest of the album.

It's 10 minutes. There isn't much contect needed for a song of this length tbh

I'm not expecting a lot of fun choruses and 'crescendos' from this record to be honest and I'm fine with that.

The older I get, the less interested I am in catchy structures. It's like "if the song needs to go to the center of the earth to make sense, then do it"
