Mirror and Lie have a great transition, that's for sure, but they're pretty distinct songs imo

The lyrics in "The Mirror" are bestowed with such meaning when life punches you in the face…

I'm a recovering alcoholic, and by that I mean I'm still an alcoholic and I'm recovering in between drinking sessions.

Well, Mike's drumming is more engaging that Mike's, so it's obvious how I think about this change.
I wonder how Porntoy and LaCheese will get along

Never thought this would ever happen... I love Mike Mangini and his drumming is phenomenal, but in DT he never could show what he's truly capable of. It always felt like he was being restrained somehow. I'm very excited he will finally be able to pursue other projects.
As for the return of Portnoy, well, the expectations are gigantic. It's thrilling to see what they come up with now and if it will rekindle some kind of creative spark that's been missing for quite a while now.

Personally, I can't help being optimistic about new Dream Theater releases, even if they've been mostly disappointing since Portnoy's departure.

I completely agree with you Willie.

I appreciate this band's work even if it's not always my thing. I haven't even heard all of their albums but I was a big fan of Images and Words.
All my friends back in school loved Metropolis Pt. 2 and while it's good, I think it's a tad overrated...
Randomly got into them pretty heavily around the Systematic Chaos / Black Clouds era, so I like both of those a lot even though I know they're far from the band's best.
