Didn't one of the other guys in the band write this album while Jon was in prison? If that's true, then it makes sense that its so much different...

I haven't heard this entire record yet, though.

I may buy this just to see how different it is. Plus, its the last album Dissection will ever release. Its a damn shame Jon killed himself.

It's not horrid, but an extreme step down from SOTLB and The Somberlein.

Would you say its still melodic black metal? Or is it a completely different style?

EDIT- I heard a few samples off this and my god, it is VERY different, but it wasn't terrible. I'll buy this for sure, but I won't be expecting much. This Message Edited On 06.22.07

Just bought this today, and while it is certainly not the Dissection I'm used to, this is by no means bad. I actually enjoy this album a lot.

They were never really melodic black metal, I save that term for bands like Twilight

Opera,

Ved Buenes Ende, and Catamenia. This is more melodic death metal with a strong

black metal vibe, unlike the first two albums which were more black metal with a

melodic death vibe. This Message Edited On 06.23.07

Whatever it is, Dissection still sounds damn good, I don't mind if they changed their sound, at least the style the changed to they can play well.

Be it as it may, this is a fabulous Melodic Death Metal album. I may even bump my rating up I like it so much. This Message Edited On 06.23.07

I did what you suggested Thor and looks like im gonna have to buy this. This may not be the melodic black metal dissecyion of old. But this is a great melodic death metal cd!
Jon's vocals are as strong as ever, its chock full of catchy songs and melodic riffs and has a few good solos too.
Really digging:
Starless Aeon
Dark Mother Divine
and Maha Kali

This is a complete dissapointment after their two other masterpieces. If this was the only album they released or was a debut or something then that would be different. Its ok, but nothing like the first two, although Black Dragon rules.
