I like the new Beardfish LP, but it's not nearly as good as their two previous albums. I've been slacking a lot lately. That's just that.
This seriously slays even though I prefer Ideas.

I've never thought about etid while listening to these guys... but the comparison makes sense... these guys are just so over the place with their influences.

They really took some basic musical elements and added their personal note to it, making it their very own.

Okay let's give these lads a listen shall we?

yeah greg i think it's with some of the vocal melodies they went with that remind me a ton of etid, and especially how all over the place they are.

These guys remind me of QOTSA circa Songs for the Deaf era, minus the wankery of course.

Okay so this grew on me quite a bit

Is it coincidence (or wise sequencing) that the 3 highlights are tracks 3, 6 & 9?
English rockers Hawk Eyes deliver more of their raucous - & rather peculiar - sound on 3rd LP 'Everything Is Fine'. More accessible than the energetic quartet's prior releases, their melodic sensibilities shine through here, lending a nice balance to proceedings. A contradictory release in more ways than one, a wide array of influences are apparent & genres explored, yet the end result is fairly unique. Rob Stephens' versatile guitar-work is a highlight, with some huge riffs standing out. These guys have the talent, they just need to nail down their sweet spot & eradicate the punky filler. Recommended Tracks: More Than a Million, Die Trying, I Never Lose & Enemies.
