I'm gonna go and say that nobody should ever, ever mix -core and electronic music and pretended to be taken seriously (as these guys pretend you do on this) because it's a bloody gimmick done just because they want to cater to guys that like their breakdowns as much as they like their wub wub. It's always been like this and who denies it has parma ham in his ears (cit.).

Sadly ES are the ones pulling it out the best so imagine the rest. (I'm on the "they make great singles and a load of c**p on the whole disc" boat anyway)

Having said so, on related genres The Algorithm is the only praiseworthy blip blip + core dude -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pZL7PlnZ8U

He doesn't pretend to be taken seriously, makes songs about Will Smith, trolls crowds with Rick Rolls and drops like a mofo. Plus the drummers are always amazing

I just don't see what there is to like. Nothing wrong with people having different opinions -- obviously you love this. I'm just confused as to why.

Well tbh if you dont like it then i guess your never gonna really get what people like about this. I guess the only thing i could say is just think what you enjoy in albums you love and then thats how i and others feel about this. Theres no trick haha. I just enjoy the vocals, lyrics, melodies etc, all the stuff people value music for

Just read through this man and I gotta agree with Mort. your usage of gimmicky makes no sense, I think "gimmicky" is the wrong word to use when describing this based on all of the points you're making. I won't neg, I'm not a bitter fan pissed you didn't like it just my thought after reading this. When I hear gimmicky I think of this being deceptive and this isn't deceptive, if anything I think you mean to say this album is derivative of other bands.

this band has always been described as gimmicky and as a long time fan its always sat wrong with me. i think if anything theyve perhaps failed at incorporating the electronics into their sound smoothly a few times, which is why it comes as a tacked on gimmick to so many.

but if you listen to tracks like thumper where the integration is seamless its clear its not a gimmick and an integral part of their sound

^agreed hard mort I think the electronics are a very big part of what make Enter Shikari who they are as a band. I agree thats probably their main weakness.
