Finally listened to it, it's okay. Glad it's not an album track because it wouldn't be worthy. It doesn't seem to be written by them, they only performed it, so that explains that.

I also read the orchestra album is due to 2019, while they plan on releasing a live album in the meantime.

Is there gonna be another studio album between now and the orchestra record?

Edit: The band commented on that new song that the orchestral album is set for 2018, so I'm assuming the answer is no.

@InFlamesWeThrash: Ah, yeah, they're cool. Haven't listened to Doom enough, but I've got Distant Memories on my copy and it's a nice track. Not on par with most of the regular ones imo, but it's got some really awesome parts, e.g. that part where Hansi starts singing "We're trapped in twilight" in the most epic manner. I love when he sounds like that.

@Ebola: They didn't say anything about that, but I doubt it, since their working rhythm has been very slow for nearly two decades now. It would be very unusual at least. Here's an interview about their future plans btw: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/blind-guardian-to-release-live-album-in-2018-orchestral-album-to-follow-in-2019/

This is alright. I dont really hear the production issues some mentioned, but overall I did find the songs to not be as strong as usual

I love how the loudness war is pretty much over at this point with most artist reverting back to dynamic range over uber-compresso

But Blind Guardian still sound like they're performing through a giant pop filter in the middle of a windtunnel.

I tend to forget this album exists amidst the rest of their material lol. Offhand I remember quite liking At the Edge of Time and Grand Parade.
