That does seem the case Titan. How many kids do you see with classic t-shirts band merch? Growing up and well over to the 90s and even till now there's those certain old bands that still transcend you know the ones. There was always a group of youngsters into the older stuff

Gotta give it the once a blue moon spin. I know with Halen if I haven't heard it in a while I'll probably feel good listening to it again. I've listened to these albums so many times in a 30 year mark where Ill ask myself that same question than it comes right back home.

Good music ain't going anywhere, it'll be there. Now, there are albums/bands/songs I probably have loved 20+ years ago that I wouldn't think so much about now. I know with my classic rated albums I'll come back to it and feel the rating is justified because their old and stil deliver.

Without personal attachment and the music being well embedded into your brain how does the younger audience look at for the first time? My opinion is biased because I'm older, but I truly believe especially when it comes to hard rock ... that the oldies are the Archetype aka goodies.I find it hard to believe if younger adults were really into the the genre they'd overlook it. Ya got the all the tools in the world to find it now, it's hard to miss. People want good music! Sorry folks, I'm ranting. The real question I think is how insterested are most of the younger audience in these genres now? When I was younger I remember rock/metal being so much more popular

people also are attracted sooner to what's hip. if no one's spinning VH, no potential fan is really going to give them a chance. kind of the case now.. i don't think i've ever actually met someone who was my age and really dug VH

Van Halen probably didn't translate as well kind of like what Titan was saying, but you're right budgie. There does seem like there are certain bands that still reel em' in. I don't know what's the trend in metal or rock now, but it seems to be some of the newer sub-genres. I'm just hoping people wouldn't not know the household names because I find the genre in general to be substantially less popular than it used to be. So in my mind I feel like a lot of folks younger and older would know/dig the classics.

high school years for me in the early 90's were predominantly rock/metal, rap, new wave, or disco/dance

Crazy stuff Budgie.. ha, I ain't that old, but I did live through that. Oddly enough Titan Radiohead isn't exactly new either I remember hearing 'The Bends' when it came out. And oh yeah dude rock/metal was big in high school! I graduated in '94

But doesn't that say something to you regardless of rock/metal younger kids favorite band are Radiohead and they're old. Alternative seems to be lively enough especially on here, but than again that is the hippest genre as always and I am on the internet ha ha. Metal was dying in the 90's and pantera gave it a bumpity bump from what I remember.
