Well, a small sect of Vietnamese American community did start sending them hate mail and protesting their shows and shit. Which idk what's so offensive about them using simply using the name, it's not like they're supporting the Viet Cong. It's just letters. If I saw a band named "Red John and the Stalins" I wouldn't immediately assume they were actually in support of authoritarian regimes. But again, I'm not Vietnamese so maybe my opinion on it matters less. Either way, first name was way cooler. I still call them that usually. And I really only listen to the first record a lot cause it's obviously the best. lol
