I'm pretty sure their daddy, who by all accounts I've head is some LA bigshot, had them on the road to semi-stardom.

Reads like a 2.5 to me. Odd to point out the difference, but it just seemed to stand out in that way.

I despise this record. Pos though

I echo (pun intended) your sentiments exactly. A harmless, fun indie pop album. Totally agree with Bright sounding like a Taylor Swift song. Solid 3, nothing special, but nothing bad either.

The amount I identify with this review is disconcerting. I count Echosmith as one of my favorite bands yet, just like you, I would not say this album is better than 3.5 out of 5. It is youthful and fun without sounding like something pressed out by some big corporate hit maker, janky lyrics and all. I don't think, however, this review covers many of things that make it a pleasant listen. The production is impeccably clean, for one. Many indie sounding bands opt for busy sounds, which is sometimes great, but this album takes a simpler approach. I am also continuously impressed with the bass lines involved, not that I know much about bass playing, but they are animated and joyful. All in all, this album is not objectively impressive yet it is somehow very listenable.

Your interpretation of "Cool Kids" is absolutely incorrect and you are mistaken.
