Great writeup, Rudy. I still haven't gotten a chance to check these guys out yet.

The title track is scary good, don't want to hear the rest of the album in fear that it won't live up

Far from perfect, but DEFINITELY their best since Twin Cinema

Very nice summary, Rudy. The only thing I disagree with is I found myself wishing "Another Drug Deal of the Heart" went on longer. This album is most of what I am listening to right now. The electronic additions take a bit getting used to, but once I did, Bill Bruisers matches up well with their other albums.

totally agree mvdu, i think the reason "another drug deal of the heart" falls flat for me is bc it's gone in a minute

Yes in that case we agree there after all. Keep up the good work, klap! So happy another New Pornographers album came out; they are in my top 10 artists.

i'm listening to the title track. is it just me or is the compression REALLY fucking bad? i can hear it on my laptop speakers (and it's obviously worse/more apparent on my headphones). it's a good jam though

i mean maybe it's youtube but this is like ridiculously bad

I have so much love for any introductory paragraph which taps into the transportative powers of music. That closing line is also brilliant.

Also I know nothing about this band =( HOW DO YOU GUYS MANAGE TO LISTEN TO SO MUCH MUSIC?!?!??

like the cymbals (and drum set in general) are really shitty, and the overall mixing is really muddy.

but i changed my mind, it's a lot better with my better headphones on. it's still a little muddy but the clipping isn't as bad. maybe the other headphones don't have the range idk.

in any case gonna check out the whole album, tbh i never looked into them because of their name lol but twin cinema was sweet so hopefully this compares well

yeah this is horribly compressed but it almost suits the whole maximalist day-glo sugary feel of it

The name of this band is seriously turning me off for some reason.
