This really surprised me when I bought it, if youve only heard there newer stuff then come to this its way different, they take a much heavier growling metal approach to this album and the older stuff than the new stuff, its pretty good though I liked it

Would ya'll say that their sound in the early days was hugely removed from what's goin' on with Leviathan and Blood Mountain? Wanna know if this is worth exploring. I know that a group like Baroness is pretty much unrecognizable now compared to that band's formative days.

Early Mastodon and modern Mastodon are two completely different bands that just happen to have the same members, and name. Although, I must admit, they play both styles astoundingly well. And I agree with pretty much everything you said in this quite well written review, aside from the fact that I actually do like "We Built This Come Death."
