25 years since Freddie's untimely death. Top 3 vocalist for me regardless of genre.

Ian Gillan and Ronnie James Dio. For a good 3 years, Gillan was insanely good.

How about you, John?

In no particular order

Ian Gillan

Dio

Freddy Mercury

Studio Byron was a great singer indeed. But live Byron was either good or a drunk mess, and live performances play a big role for me.

Mmm I think that's partially true, but I don't think you can judge his Quality when he was drunk, and in the cases when he wasn't, well, there are just no Quality recordings of it with a decent production, so I think there's just no material available to really tell if he did justice or not to the studio versiĆ³n of the songs,so I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt

So, innocent until proven guilty eh?

I think that there's a reason for the lack of official live material though and that reason is Byron's inability to consistently perform live. I am not saying that he didn't have the potential to be an amazing live singer (which he did) but potential by itself doesn't mean much.
