Agreed hard Crysis, I wonder if they have another masterful album left in them.

I don't think they do tbh.
Seeing the tracks from here played live was one of the worst concert experiences of my life.

^Crysis - I'm glad to see someone else say that. I saw them on this last tour and I was actually really unimpressed.

Wow really? I saw them play Limbs love and they were good. In the interview I'm talking about, one of them said for the marrow tour, the first show was literally the first time playing those particular songs together as a band. This was prob the same case.

they are an amazing live band from when i saw them on the marrow tour and their tour after faustian echoes.

Their playing was spot on and the sound was excellent, but if you don't like the new tracks, well that's half the show gone right there. I would've liked a bit more variety from all over their discog but I thought the new tracks sounded really powerful live so w/e

It was the last night of the tour. Maybe they were just off, I dunno. That's just my perception. I've seen a lot of people praise their live show, so maybe I was expecting too much.
Edited - can't spell...

One of my friends went to see them play in a church in KY a month or two ago. He said it was the best show he'd ever been to.

Nice. A church would be a cool venue for their music.

Their encore was "Vales Beyond Dimension" and it was literally the worst thing I have ever seen live, bar none. It sounded like they were just playing whatever the fuck they wanted to for 12 minutes. At that point I just wanted to leave.
They played one track from The Mantle and one from Pale Folklore. Their rendition of "The Melancholy Spirit" was the highlight of their set but even that was a poor, stripped-down version of the actual song with almost none of the atmosphere of the original.
It was a shame because I was immediately in front of the stage and had a great view:

I also managed to record "The Melancholy Spirit" and "The Astral Dialogue". May upload them to YouTube if anyone's interested.

That would be nice and appreciated.

I'll upload them, but I have to warn that the sound isn't the best given my proximity to the amps and also the fact it was recorded on my phone. Also the vocals are really quiet, which isn't the fault of the phone as it sounded like that live as well.

Melancholy Spirit sounded great when I saw them as did And The Great Cold Death of the Earth and both Marrow tracks. Highlight for me was definitely Limbs though.
Vales could've been left out for an older track seeing as it's my least fave off this however Plateau was a fantastic closer IMO and the builds/climaxes really hit their mark live and ended everything on a high note.

I don't get the hate that this is getting. Yeah, it doesn't compare to Agalloch's other albums, but I don't get where people are finding this horrendous.
|
| |
Imo it fits right into their discog. Prefer this to Marrow and *gasp* Pale Folklore

It's not horrendous, it just a LOT more flaws than their other records. IMO their best production was definitely Ashes and then The Mantle.

It's far from horrendous, but just seems so boring and uninspired. As much as I've tried to get into this album, I keep finding myself wanting to skip to the next song about halfway through each track.
