I listened, and closely and I can't stand it. I was hoping only Physics and Devlab were the bad albums. Guess not.

Hmm, this sounds kind of interesting. I might have to check it out sometime. Kage and I have fairly similar music tastes in terms of metal, and he seems to be keen on it.

I have discovered how much I like Townsend. He writes some brilliant, original music. Seeing him live was a real treat, not just for his antics (which are always great), but for the chance to see the music live as well. One of the most unique artists out there today.

It's funny, I'm a huge Devin Townsend fan, but I can't get into this at all, except for The Fluke and Nobody's Here.
I dunno, he's seriously one of my favourite artists, but it just won't click.
Weird.

This album took me so long to 'get', but now that I do it's amazing. If you don't like this at first just stick with it.

Townsend sounds amazing; my girlfriend and I are both huge fans of experimental metal, and his ambiant sound intrigues me. I'm looking into buying one of his albums for my girlfriend for xmas, but I've only heard one or two songs, and have no idea which album is the best. Any opinions, anyone?

Earth Day creates the one of the most powerful walls of sound I've ever heard.

cant find any hard copies of his albums to save my life... i had to buy a couple songs off itunes (because i do it legally. ) but devin townsend is easily the modern day zappa in my opinion. earth day is crushing.

i've recently really got into devin townsend's work, mainly with strapping young lad, but i never realised what an amazing musician the guy is, and his production is so unique and effective.

i'm four tracks in on terria (which i bought today) atm, and i'm loving the beatiful guitar solo work on deep peace. mountain and earth day were amazing too. i'm feeling that it's one of those albums that you just put on and let it wash over you, the sort of thing where multiple listens would reveal different things. but for a first listen, i'm fucking loving this. i'll edit this post when i've finished listening...

Multiple listens will definitely reveal new things, and it should continue to grow on you... this is my favorite album he has ever released under any name.

Okay, so having finished listening, I'd have to say that the second half of the album is marginally not quite as good as the first, but is still nonetheless pretty amazing. i love how the songs can flow between washes of sound and more structured parts without sounding forced, and as i said, his production work does wonders for the overall feel of the album.

and yeah i know i said i was going to edit this bit into my last post, but this review is pretty feckin good, so i figured why not bump it a bit?

The second half is more mellow and less dynamic then the first half, but it just works...

Great Review, for a great album

This is probably my second favourite Devin album, right behind Ocean Machine
