As energetic & accessible as ever, there are hooks aplenty on Rise Against's 7th LP 'The Black Market'. Taking parts from all over their back-catalog, the Chicago punk-rockers may now be more slickly produced, but are no less hard-hitting for it. Their formula may be familiar, yet it's a winning one... Even if a few of the riffs & melodies feel recycled. Tim McIlrath's screams may not be as effective nowadays, but the quartet wisely add sufficient diversity in other ways. And, of course, it's redundant to suggest that Joe Principe's bass-lines are amazing. Recommended Tracks: The Black Market, Zero Visibility, The Great Die-Off & Bridges.

This was definitely a step up from Endgame, but still struggling to come to terms with the fact they'll never make a Sufferer and The Witness 2. Tragedy + Time is probably their worst song imo.

Endgame > this. At least Endgame was a bit different sonically, this is just the lame version of Sufferer.

Yeah, all this album really needed was some extra oomph. Songwriting is very good and that extra something could have made Bridges their best song since Survive. Still an amazing song though. Eco-Terrorist is probably the only song that shows them at top-performance.
