Obv I was expecting something different.. something that sounds like it's made with synths instead

of VSTs? Something cool.. like Com Truise future 80s sound. The infra pig cart racer made me expect

MORE of him, because of that track on soundcloud and several others he posted, I was expecting

something different. Something to explore modular synth soundscape?? There's so much you could do

with that stuff and it's as if it's not being explored.

One only needs to compare these two:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SSac980qlI Soundcloud / demo version

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VE7tcrDEth0 Album version / final

This album made me lost respect for the guy. I had subcription on his site, but this was the final

nail.

@dev "Personally I don't get what the fuss is with this apparent "new sound" everyone keeps going on about. I like the album, but it's basically just Random Album Title 4x4 mixed with Zimmerman's early ambient/idm stuff, back when he was self-releasing his work"

Ambient/IDM stuff aside, some of which are tracks that have been kicking around for years; he does have a drastically different sound than RAT. He moves away from the plucks (chords of life zeta+ preset) on this album moreso than he ever has before, excluding 4x4=12. My theory is that his sound is now analog-exclusive, which is apparent in the warmer sound. The crisp deadmau5 sound from stuff like 4x4=12 and RAT is just not apparent on this album, it's far smoother.

For me his peak was RAT. While I enjoyed while, he's putting out vastly different stuff now. It just doesn't feel the same. IMO the last masterpiece he's made, was HR Cephei - i was really surprised that wasn't included on ATGH. I'm hoping he moves back towards the minimal sound that defined him on tracks like Cthulhu Sleeps or Slip. Techno would be cool too.

It's super boring, I'm also really sad how Bleed turned out on here because the 2012 WIP was so promising.
