Each song has its own identity; how is it any less diverse than the Nirvana record you 5'd?

Well for starters, In Utero's only 41 minutes and it'd probably be a 3-3.5 if Kurt tried to stretch it out to an hour and 9 minutes

"This album has 2 types of songs, slow and spacey, and loud and choiry"

I think you've really uncovered the depth on offer here

He's sad and wants to find love, I mean was that really a new musical concept in 1997?

I can understand your points Ars, but to me the record has a great cohesive feel due to the similar lyrical themes and musical styles throughout, the similarities being positives rather than negatives. And each song has its own thing going for it

@ars ok fair but trust me this album is far from samey, it just feels that way since you're looking at a lot of what it does as gimmicky

Yeah you really are through the looking glass on this one. You've unraveled it.

@TVC: well yeah it's a good album, a good album with flaws

If I gave it a 2.5, I might have not bothered with a 2nd listen

I plan on listening to this at least 5 times before I make any final decisions about the album though

Honestly my opinion on this album is more in depth than i'm making it seem, so maybe 'll review it eventually if you all won't neg me to hell for the rating lol

I can see how someone would consider this not to have variety, but the way I see it, it's meant to create a lull. It's like an apathy born from emotional catharsis, glazed over eyes, even if that's romanticising it a bit

well its a romantic album and it very much romanticizes awful things like drug use and apathy, so not too for fetched

I don't like psych in general, so I didn't expect much from this tbh. The vocal just annoys me for some reason.
