So, I was eating nutella sandwiches while writing this review and now every time I hear the album I think of nutella and vice versa.

Both are rich in flavour, both can be consumed for lengthy periods of time, and both are better on toast. Seems like a winning combination to me

Needs more ratings. Solid and promising alt rock band.

Agreed. It had been a while since I heard a hard rock album that was this solid

track 6 onward is just gold. All of it. And the rest isn't far behind.

Still my favorite album of the last two years. Won't have a legitimate album of 2016 until Twelve Foot Ninja release their upcoming one. Anyway, I think most of the songs on this album are pretty high quality, but I like Big Wreck the most when they are rocking out or playing to their roots. I also happen to actually love the fact that Ian often sounds like Cornell. Why is this a negative? Cornell had *the* voice of rock in the 90s, and the only person who came close to him was Ian and then later Myles Kennedy. With Cornell's voice shot to hell now, someone needs to pick up the torch.

Favorite songs (in order):"Hey Mama"--simply amazing, "A Place To Call Home", "Friends", "Off and Running" and "Still Here" (Cornell Solo song anyone?). The rest are pretty good too, except I don't like "War Baby" at all. No idea why they bothered with this song, since it's so low quality compared to the rest and sounds like Thin Lizzy or some really bad 80s pop rock song.

Actually, Cornell's voice has improved over the past couple of the years to the point where I am genuinely amazed by how good he sounds now. Combined with Axl Rose's recent drastic vocal improvement it gives me hope (as an untrained vocalist who's fucked up my voice pretty badly over the past 10 years doing stuff I thought was a good idea at the time) that maybe there's hope to keep improving as you get older.

This album deserves to be wayy more known. So good. It's like classic rock updated for modern times, and it's all good from start to finish.

The band doing a session at Dunlop. They kill it as usual. Never liked this band as much, but I love Thornley's guitar playing.

Oh hell yes! Those Dunlop sessions are the shit! Devy did a Casualties of Cool one and it was spectacular.

Oh shit, SitarHero and Bloc in a thread about a Canadian rock band people stopped caring about years ago?

Pleasantly surprised! I used to love these guys when they came back in 2012, and of course That Song and a few others of theirs were aaaallllll over Canadian radio in the late 90s.

But...unless my memory is kaput, I don't think I listened to Ghosts? And I had no idea this even came out! AND THEY'RE PLAYING A SHOW IN EDMONTON IN MARCH THAT I GET TO GO SEE. Stoked. These guys have always been more talented than they seem.

Sitar and I know good guitar work when we hear it

Ugh That Song is soooooo good still. But yeah, these guys have some tricks up their sleeve for sure. I always passed them off as some generic radio rock band like Nickelback or something but they are much bigger than that.

Yeah man, Albatross surprised me. I gotta check these newer ones out. They walk and talk like an uninspired rock band but have quite a bit of soul.

You hear the main guy's solo stuff? His album Come Again had some fun singles. It's a lot more dumbed down compared to this though

Forgotten Canadian bands are our jam! We should go start bumping some Triumph threads. xD

Naah, but seriously, this was my completely unexpected AOTY of 2014 and I even wrote this review. This album sounds, to me, like Nutella tastes.

Actually, I'm suddenly not sure. Skyharbor's "Guiding Lights" and Destrage's "Are You Kidding Me? No." also came out in 2014. What a great year for music, come to think of it.

I think Guiding Lights is my top for 2014 too. But yeah, man, after their hiatus, their new work is so surprisingly solid. I wonder how many other artists I've dismissed without warrant.

I think this is probably their best work since they got back together. Potentially their best work ever.
