@CalculatingInfinity, ok, then it must be me loving this band for the last five years. I admit they are not good at lyrics but I don't find them to be average. So, cheers!

@Mythodea: They admittedly got better over time but every album had a lot of flaws. Phantom had Mark (fucking hell he was AWFUL on that album), songwriting was average and felt tacky with Consign suffering the same problems although to a lesser extent. Divine was just way too long, Design improved but still there was nothing to love about it and Requiem was so unmemorable I couldn't be bothered with it. For me the main reason why I don't care for them is I don't find anything about the band either unique are brilliant on their own. We've ultimately heard every they've done before with other bands, the symphonics on themselves are either *insert segment here* or *make chorus more epic* instead of any natural interplay mostly on their early efforts but less so on later efforts, Simone is a pretty good vocalist although shows no emotional depth and can oversing segments, Mark is average at best when it comes to growls and the band itself minus the symphonics I don't find interesting enough, solo or riff wise. This album feels are more natural with the symphonics and feels even more epic then their previous efforts. Songs like Kingdom of Heaven are what I want more off, natural interplay between the band and symphonics with memorable segments. It's a case of no matter of now much they get the songwriting right (which they do on this album), I'll never love on album they do since I don't find individual aspects intresting enough.

Despite that, I am thinking of bumping this to a 4. Some segements are bad ass and the album's really fun despite it having little varience between tracks minus 'song heavier then last one*.

@CalculatingInfinity: well, then, I suppose the reason I loved them was because five years ago I knew

only Scorps, Pink Floyd (only The Wall and Wish You Were Here), Deep Purple and Bon Jovi. I

accidentally listened to Nightwish and that it was for me. I explored the ''symphonic music in metal''

approach, learning about bands like Kamelot (not that they are symphonic metal, but happened to

discover them along the way), Delain, Lunatica and then, of course, Epica. I had no former experience

in growls (actually I was never a fan), so Epica got me into them and for me they were just that -

harsh vocals, nothing more.I knew nothing about Opeth levels back then, hehe. For me, Epica was a love

at first sight and I accept them because not man bands do that for me.

As for Kingdom of Heaven, yes! God knows how I wish they would explore more their prog side, but in

the end, they are not prosters, so I just enjoy their new material... Cheers!

@emester: Because it's really fun, catchy and mostly well written.

@Mythodea: You just described my music taste journey when I was 13 until the next year of school. Kamelot, Nightwish, Draconian, Epica, Sirenia etc. were my bread and butter. As I found more bands I left these behind and they got worse for me over time, especally since some Death Metal bands show me how dull Mark's vocals are and Versailles became my fav Power Metal band by a mile.

Even if it's cheese, it is the best cheese possible. When you sound this bombastic, I think the lyrical content becomes kind of moot. They could be singing/growling a shopping list and it would still sound completely epic.

@Heavy: Kinda true, lyrics are the last thing to focus on this and I certainly don't care when I have constant epic being bombarded into my face but some people do.

Ok, I am relatively new to the Sputnik's slang... Does ''avg'' mean that it's not a solid 3,4,5 etc. but a ''.5'' album?

Nah avg (average) is the number that shows up to the right of the album on the review. It's a total average of all of the user ratings for the album.

Ok, that's what I was thinking at first, but for a reason the other idea for its meaning stuck in my head and I got confused... Anyway, thanks...

@Asmodeuss1990

Comparing two extremely different bands... Both albums can be 4.4 without bitching out which is better. The quantum enigma is an awesome symphonic metal album and I think it deserves this avg.

I don't think that this 4.4 will stay there forever(I hope will stay) but a 4.2 is tottally worth it.
