Top notch cd comfortably their best cd,Am i the only one that thinks with each album Gavins voice gets more and more intolerable and the band moves more towards pop rock

"Am i the only one that thinks with each album Gavins voice gets more and more intolerable and the band moves more towards pop rock"
i don't think gavin's voice takes too much of a dip on the following albums (although he is on a downward trend) but agreed on the second part of the comment

Yatahaze is one of their best songs period

From Penguins onwards it loses me a bit, but the album's first half is exceptional. The last track is inexcusable though. Could have been their best

I never listened to this one much. Mostly love Catch Without Arms and The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion, but occasionally jam El Cielo.

I actually prefer this to El Cielo slightly. I prefer the more primitive sound.

I'm a fanboy but this album absolutely has a raw energy to it that their other material doesn't.

That is what I love about it. The concept seems pretty cool too.

I'm just waiting for the day when I see a dredg comment section become active again because of a new album announcement! I would shite in my pants!

Oh boy this is good. Would be quite tragic if Chuckles is their last record. They need to make amends on that.

Damn, I need to hear this. Been putting it off for years

Awesome review, my favorite album along with CWA
i love this for the raw ethereal energy, and the latter ones for the pureness of Gavin's voice and melodic compositions

I was a hardcore dredg fan right around 2002. Had my own dredg fan website and was really just totally obsessed with them for a few years. Symbol Song was my first introduction to the band and the Industry Demo was really what sealed it for me.
It’s difficult to compare Leitmotif to El Cielo to CWA. They are extremely different albums. This one, Leitmotif, is rough around the edges but experimental in a way that CWA is absolutely not. The lack of polish in the production will attract some and repel others. It feels more like a band sitting through a jam session, stream of consciousness music making, that lightning in a bottle was captured here. There’s something to be said for that organic “flavor”.
I prefer El Cielo to this but both have places in my heart. I submit that The Canyon Behind Her is the best song they wrote.

Canyon is brilliant agreed. One of my favourite closers
