Probably the most underrated zappa album along. Uncle Meat and this.

This is so good. I can't believe this has the second lowest average of all the Mothers' studio albums. INSANITY.

Nice rating Harisson! Ranking the mothers albums is so challenging to do. So many incredible albums. This and Weasel are underated for sure.

Interesting. I think the first and last are by far the weakest tracks. This might be my fave Zappa if those were not on here. He already parodied/did doo-wop to death on his first album.

Old ground for The Mothers final years when they were combining jazz, classical and rock.

Sure, but without those two tracks it wouldn't be a sandwich, now would it? Besides, Valarie is worthwhile since it's virtually the only track where the Mothers sound remotely earnest.

Sure, me saying " if those were not on here" is hypothetical/irrational. I appreciate the tracks, I like them, yet they have less value to me than the other tracks.

And agreed with it being one of the few songs where they sound earnest. They aren't parodying doo-wop here like on Freak Out. But why would you want a faithful doo-wop interpretations from The Mothers when you could just listen to the classics?

Don't get me wrong I really like The Little House I Used to Live In, but top 5 Zappa? Nah Maybe top 30, which IS high since the guy has over 450 original songs.

I wouldn't count his solo stuff. Most of it is non essential.

Top 30 is respectable though. Song is so made given jazz rock was barely a thing in 69.
