This album goes hard. It's their best, imo. Wish I could get into The Madness of Many.

If I had to rank

Joy of Motion- Best in terms of diversity and color

Weightless- An emotional journey.

S/T- A good breakthrough into the scene

Madness of Many- The album rooted in finger gymnastics more than musicality and melody.

@db

Did you check "Ectogenesis" off that album? The drums in the middle/end of that one bring the energy at least

And good ranking Cosby, Weightless gets too much hate. Still enjoy s/t more myself, but weightless has some bangers

Yeah, Doctor Targus. I do like a handful of tracks from the new one, it just doesn't have the punch the others do; not sure if it is the production or songwriting, but it all feels muddy/samey. I think my rating is the same as Cosby's, but s/t and Weightless can swap places at any given time, tbh.

Muddy is a good way to describe it, and yeah that was just the one song I still go back to. The rest of the album is a big snooze for the most part, even though The Brain Dance is solid

Ectogenesis has probably the best drumming on the new one.

The production here has always bugged me, something sounds off with the drums. I have a feeling they have pretty much no compression on them or something. To me they sound mushy and not clear at all.

Some people here are not fans of it all but I think it's great.

I recently revisited this album, which I previously listened to a couple of times. Animals As Leaders delivers their best performance on this album. I also checked out Animals As Leaders (Self-Titled album). I listened to Weightless and, to me, is an OK album. I cannot comment, however, on The Madness of Many. I started listening to it, but it seems to me that something is not working on that album. So, having said that, I consider The Joy Of Motion their strongest album so far.
