I saw TPR live a couple of years back & recall thinking before-hand that they would be a train-wreck, so my expectations were low. They were far from it though & Taylor's voice genuinely wowed me.

As for their lyrics, I have to agree. There's some cringeworthy stuff on this LP in particular. It's why I suggest getting some outside help.

i'm still surprised Momsen is only 20 tbh, so i can still understand why a lot of her lyrics are cringey

Agreed TLTGB. I get the feeling she may not be an easy person to tell what to do though.

I'll leave that to your imagination BigBlob.

NickleBack and FlyLeaf in the recs means this will irritate the shit out of me. Stellar review though.

Taylor Momsen can sing. And from what I've heard of the band they have a kind of greasy groovy hard rock sound. It's quite refreshing.

When you're young, you always take what you can get. Even bicycles and sprinklers get you wet
Must've been one interesting, exploratory childhood she had.

I'm glad this exists, now if anyone comes to me and asks for some buttfuckin' tunes at the record shop I work at, I'll have just the remedy! Having said that, the title track is pretty catchy and the only other song I've heard from this, "Follow Me Down", was pretty decent as well. I'll probably throw this on at work sometime and see what I think.

"this grooves"

It does BT, but it needs to groove more.

"This sounds like garbage"

A little. But there's no Scottish accent like Shirley Manson. ;-)

"I thought the first album was quite good. Maybe I should check this sometime."

Yeah, worth checking out, just don't build up your hopes.

"NickleBack and FlyLeaf in the recs means this will irritate the shit out of me. Stellar review though."

Thanks. And yeah, probably. I still think they're good enough to shake those comparisons, but they don't here.

"3.2? Rly? Davey pls."

Yes, Rosco. It's all relative to how much you liked their debut, I guess.

"The title track is the best thing on here imo."

Disagree, but it was the only good quality tune available on SoundCloud.

"Taylor Momsen can sing. And from what I've heard of the band they have a kind of greasy groovy hard rock sound. It's quite refreshing."

Well summed up. Then, it all comes down to the songs that they're working with.

"now if anyone comes to me and asks for some buttfuckin' tunes at the record shop I work at"

Please tell me that this doesn't actually happen Styles?

"When is this woman going to get naked so I can stop caring about her"

Are you blind? (Probably, by the sound of it. LOL). She's naked on the cover.

It hasn't yet but you've now successfully prepared me should it in the future ;)

Phew, my opinion of modern society in general almost took a further nose-dive then.

Now we just have to stop 20 year old women posing nude on album covers & in music videos.
