The Paramore comparisons may remain for New York pop-punk act We Are the In Crowd, but the quintet undoubtedly progress on their John Feldmann produced 2nd LP 'Weird Kids'. At a tight 32 minutes, this very consistent album is as energetic & infectious as ever, with Rob Chianelli's punchy drums highlighting an expanded - if far from innovative - musical base that selectively uses keys & strings to good effect. More importantly, Taylor Jardine's vocals have strengthened, the lyrics matured & there is wise use of the boy-girl vocal dynamic (& occasional gang chant) whenever diversity is required. Recommended Tracks: The Best Thing, Attention, Long Live the Kids & Reflections.

I had a Mandela Effect sort of phenomenon with this band where I could have sworn for years that they were called "We Are In The Crowd".

The band is apparently back together and they released a couple of b-sides from this album that are pretty good. Here's to hoping they write some new material.
