have to agree with verm & lambs, rap from the south set the genre back about 20 years. dumbed down hip hop tbh.

scarface & the geto boys, outkast are ok but they're nothing when you compare 'em to the greats.

ugk & three 6 mafia are flat out garbage when stacked up vs the legends of the genre. and that's the best the south has to offer lmao.

i get it tastes are different but let's not say they can hold a candle to the great east coast artists.

eric b & rakim
bdp
run dmc
wu tang
epmd
public enemy
boot camp clik
ultramagnetic mcs
artifacts
beatnuts
non phixion (ill bill specifically)
gang starr
jeru
redman
3rd bass
shit, list goes on and on.

Yeah obviously the east coast is gonna have more respected artists, they're the ones that started it, and for half the people on your list no one was even rapping in the south when they were banging (outside of the Geto Boys).

And saying the south set back hip-hop 20 years is completely ridiculous since they've been the major innovators for quite some time now (although this kind of debate is now getting irrelevant thanks to the internet).

I get what you're saying though, different strokes and all, and I could probably take your post seriously if not for this statement here :"outkast are ok but they're nothing when you compare 'em to the greats."
That's just ridiculous, Outkast are in the top 10 hip-hop acts of all time and that's just not debatable. They're in the same class as the Nas and Biggies of this world. If you seriously think the beatnuts are better than Outkast I dunno what to say.

OutKast are more influential to East Coast rappers alone than the mayority of your list to hip-hop as a whole tbh

Andre 3000 is better than 90% (i don't say all just cuz i havent heard all that you mentioned) of the mcs from your list (that includes individuals from groups) tbh [2]

The south is just the worst style of hip hop, that's all I meant. West and east and even Midwest is far better, there's multiple groups from each of those areas way better than outkast, idk outcast has never really done more than make catchy music, not my style.

This post makes me irrationally angry lol.

And yeah obviously Outkast aren't more influential than BDP or Rakim but they're one of the,if not the most influential hip-hop act from their time. Have you listened to any Outkast albums front to back? Not trying to attack you I'm genuinely curious.

Outkast is AWESOME, but not on the level where they are considered an obvious choice in GOAT lists

Outkast rules, their stuff pre 2003 is classic, since speakerboxx they went downhill. Aquanemi,
Atliens and stanokia are classics. Of couse they are influential buy saying that outkast is better
than rakim or public enemy is hilairous, even big boi and andre 300 will agree with me, they even
claim than most of the east coast influenced them. Need to hear more properly Cunninlynguists and
little brother.

By the way, the fact that there are like a few outstanding acts among a big pile of shit like ying
yang twins or waka flocka can save an entire genre movement.Outkast, geto boyz, scarface and a few
more are legit. But most of the dirty south is just dumbed and hedonistic hip hop with shitty
lyricism, a big waste of good production and really stupid accents and annoying voices, most of the
topics have been done before and done better. Prefer to listen this than most of the dirty south,
even immortal technique is better than most of the dirty south.

Speakerboxx is good but a letdown compared with their other stuff, the other stuff is funny and legit,
rhymes were sick, the flow was perfect, everything was legit, speakerboxx has good things but it also
has a lot of filler. Is funny how mad are dirty south fans when somebody says most of the acts are not
very good at all, they are worse than the kiss army and the maggots combined. Only juggalos are worse
than those butthurt dirty south fans. That's what happens when you lost your virginity with a dirty
south hip hop song, lol.

Been a while since I heard outlast full cd but yeah I've hear atliens aquemini and stanly is a lot, a lot o songs on speakerboxx as well.

I'm not saying they aren't dope, I'm typing on phone so I'm bein sloppy and exaggerating. I just think bdp > outkast. But outkast is still top ten IMO, just a little too sound oriented to be on my personal top 5 (they have excellent lyrics but I could pick a few artists from each coast I'd take over outkast

So yeah basically I didn't mean to be so harsh on em, they are probably the best( eventual) mainstream rap ever
