Not a huge fan of Periphery, but this is some good shit

Spencer ruins this band.

If it wasn't for Spencer this band would be a huge snoozefest. With him they're only kinda a snoozefest.

They are tight musicians though dude, they just need to learn how to craft cohesive tunes.

You know I wouldn't be surprised if they released this garbage just to quench the fanboys thirst for new material for a bit to sort of
"clear" the way for something epic (new album). Or, I could be trying to look through rose colored glasses, and the EP was just a
major miss on their part. The reality of it all is probably the later.

they're tight musicians agreed and obviously have talent. too bad it's used in the same generic
fashion on almost every song they create. I've enjoyed a few tracks by them on a purely superficial
level, but they always seem to lack lasting power.

I think it's a nice way to bridge the gap to the next album.
Disagree on spencer's voice, I personally think it's fantastic. Though there are a few melodies I don't think sound right (On Marks song for example)

Matt, Spencer and Mark's tracks are pretty great.
Disappointed by Misha's though. Not very interesting.

Wholeheartedly agree with this review. It could have been so much better, the concept was brought up by Stephen Carpenter, the man himself.
Pretty much hit-or-miss. Digging the guitar player's tracks. Expected more of Nolly, and Spencer... well, although the intention was right (veer off the typical Periphery sound) it went way too far.

Spencers voice sounds worse now than on p2 yeah!.

To be honest, I still love Periphery. But I hate their evolution since 'Icarus Lives' EP.
Their first Album was the greatest piece of music I've ever heard, and P2 just dissapointed me so much, because it was all catchy and they fell in this shitty 'Metalcore-Mainstream-Djent'.
It's the same for Clear and I know it will not happen again, but,
I FREAKING WANT PERIPHERY LIKE IT WAS BACK IN 2010!
My hopes lay in Misha's solo album...

Wow Chester sounds like shit on this

"My hopes lay in Misha's solo album..."
I don't know how to feel about that. I know he wrote most of P1 solo, which I love, but the style he
uses most of the time now doesn't do anything for me. Like his track here sounds a lot like anything
on P2, just really dull and emotionless.
But yeah, P1 is their best. It was catchy yeah but it was also beautiful at times, the melodies they
used back then actually carried emotion, there was a really noticeable atmosphere, now most of their
material is just... Well we all know what all their stuff sounds like now, I don't need to explain
it. I thought Spencer's voice on P2 was far superior to his P1 performance but otherwise I think it
was a colossal step in the wrong direction.

The instrumental songs were pretty good, the rest were pretty bad. Spencer could make it work but he just sounds too awkward and out of place since PII.

Some tracks here are bland, a couple of songs are the ones responsable for making that some bitches got djent while naive people is derping. Not the best of one of the bands which rules harder than hell, but not a 2 or a 1,5.

i thought it was decent. i'll probably give it another listen once it comes out. i feel like their
songwriting may have gotten a tiny bit better since p2
