Well, I've never actually heard a TPT album that's hit me as being something special on a first listen, apart from maybe SHIM. I'd take note that as a band they're not particularly immediate, definitely a grower, especially Little Man which may seem boring and monotonous at first but once you listen enough to appreciate all of the songs' features then it's an incredible album... for me anyway. That's one reason I have so few ratings, I only rate stuff after several listens to be sure I'm getting a full impression of the music, ya get me?
I heard the first few songs off Bergatt once, was suprise at how I didn't mind them at all, usually with bm I can't stand it, mainly the vocals. Agalloch in particular - loved the music, hate the vox.
I was interested in Ulver because I liked Shadows and Childhood's End

Great review, man, pos. I have yet to listen to this record, I've only checked their latest two and they were good.

Good as in 3.0 level?
It seems no-one can dig TPT ; )

No, they were better than a 3 lol, but I have to listen more to them (I couldn't find to download most of their stuff, only to stream it on Youtube)

Ah right, phew, it makes me sad when people don't like TPT
I don't know about downloads, I have their albums as CDs and I usually only stream music anyway

What album should I check out first if I try to get into these guys? I really dig Porcupine Tree and these guys get compared to them a lot.

Hmmm. Their sound changes throughout their albums. Someone Here Is Missing is quite alt-rocky and hard-edged, this is mellow and acoustic, Little Man is gentle art rock... I think Variations On A Dream goes down best with PT fans but if you think any of those others sound interesting go for them. They're definitely a band that you want to check more than 1 album though

Yeah I gotcha. I'll probably check out a few then when I get a chance.

They're releasing an "Introducing..." compilation in January. It looks a little shitty though so I'd just go for an LP

I usually download stuff I can't find to buy (plus the limited amount of cash I can spend on CDs doesn't help). I'll check it out on Youtube.

I feel sorry for you that you don't have Amazon, I'd have 1/2 as many CDs if not for it. Lots of more obscure stuff for cheaper prices there.
YouTube quality isn't half bad, or there's Grooveshark

Yeah, it sucks. Most of these retailers don't have a shop in Romania, only iTunes. A lot of stuff on Amazon is dirt cheap!

Surprising how a 30-minute TPT song can be so good. I mean, they aren't reknown for their lengthy epics, but "What Have We Sown?" quite an impressive monster

I really dig that track, it may seem a bit slow and drawn out but i never get bored of it, the drum work is awesome
