I don't think I've ever read a review from start to finish. The idea of valuing the opinions of others to such an extent (or any, really) seems perplexing to me, especially of Pitchfork/American source etc. Reading reviews and reacting in any way seems indicative of deeper psychological or parental issues tbh. Just be yourself!

Any kind of communication is just a way of seeking confirmation that we are not drifting alone through the void.

reading music (or by extension any media) reviews to completion more than like once a month is wholly indicative of music burnout
chances are you are actively looking for reasons to not listen to new things, or to listen to the same old thing repeatedly
don't tell me it's to save time by getting the gist of something, because in the time it takes you to read that shit and comment repeatedly in the applicable thread on how fucking cool/stupid the band in question is, you've already wasted an hour of your life and could've just listened to the album and seen for yourself if it's good
words suck ass all them bitches do is distort reality, that's why i can't remember any lyrics to anything ever

You might know someone close to you that secretly reads reviews from start to finish. Look for the signs and be sure to give out a helping hand to those of us in need.

"chances are you are actively looking for reasons to not listen to new things, or to listen to the same old thing repeatedly"
not sure how you came to such a conclusion. How do you know this is why people read reviews? Also, damn you're slow at reading if it takes an hour (unless you seriously consider reading EVERY comment of an old long thread also, which I'm sure no-one does)
You can easily assess the "gist" of something with the upmost haste and efficiency. I also cannot always be in a position to check an album immediately, but may have a couple of minutes to skim a review. However, this is not the only reason to read reviews. I'm not gonna explain what those reasons are however, as you have LATERALUS 5d and thus your (presumably) gargantuan intellect should be able to decipher this conundrum
(hmm this DOES read kinda like pasta tho, so good on you for wasting two minutes of my time when I could've just been listening to something instead)

Reviews are for confirmation, feelings of kinship and congeniality. Reading them to know if you will like an album is insane.

that is the level of commitment Maynard deserves. I respect your half-arsed approach here

This is still good but for peak impact you had to buy it with cash from a Velcro wallet chained to your belt loop and listen to it while playing Halo: Combat Evolved.

Tool know how to deliver an album. But this one is special, the instrumentals actually go with the album and make sense. The drumming is impeccable. Maynard as well. It contains literally the most insane and acclaimed Tool tunes. It's extremely complete. Other albums might defeat this one in the mix, but from a compositional and performance point of view, this one is their best.
