Meh, Sgt. Pepper's has never interested me, probably just because it's so overrated.
The white Album looks great on the other hand, and is one I'm thinking of purchasing.
I want Magicial Mystery Tour the most by far though.
I Am The Walruuuuuus... Koo Koo Koo Chuuu

If you haven't listened to Sgt. Pepper's, than how do you know that it's overrated?
|
| |
It just bothers me that there is so much hype around it.
Frank Zappa makes fun of that album all the time and I guess that has had some influence on me also.

Fuck him. It's a great cd. But get Magical Mystery Tour first. From what I've heard it sounds better than Sgt. Pepper's.

You should get Rubba Soul first.

Wow, you went through it song by song? How creative! God knows how you're not writing for a major publication...Just wow...
Anyone who doesn't give a 5 is basically an idiot. You're not cool for giving a 4.5 either. It's a collection of their #1 singles, and that's the only way you can view it. If you somehow think that doesn't live up to a 5, you have no taste in music, or you're thinking too damn hard. Reasons for this are self-evident to any normal person.

Obviously Sgt. Pepper's is overated, I mean, Frank Zappa said so! And if everyone else loves it, I can't love it and then expect to have any cred!
Perhaps you don't realize the time period it came out, and how it revolutionized studio recording techniques, the music industry, or how one views an album. You can't just judge an album purely by its songs, but by its context as well.

Just because an album got released with perfect timing doesn't mean its the best album of all time. Abbey Road and Revolver are much better than Sgt Pepper
|

I would say no, Sgt. Pepper is maybe my all-time favorite album. Each Beatle album had something different, so they are all great in their own way.

Eleanor Rigby is lyrically one of the best songs I've ever heard.
Also, how stoned/high do you have to be to make songs like I am the Walrus and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds?
I think thats a valid question
|
| |
Supposedly, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds is about John's son who drew a picture and called it by the very same name. I still don't believe it, but why would they lie about it? They had already admitted to taking LSD, so it really is either about LSD or a crazy coincidence.
