Great review. I must get into that stuff, but then again - I still haven't listened to Godbluff or Still Life. And like 1000 other great prog records arrghhh so much music so little time.

As I've been able to witness, your writing has indeed improved considerably Jethro; between the first and latest ProgJect reviews I've found a lot less to correct.

I love me some VDGG so this definitely seems interesting to me, looks like I need to listen to that trilogy you mentioned.

Oh, and since I take no credit for this one, I can feel free to pos ;)

@Jamie; With a little more patience, I think you might come to appreciate Harmonium slightly more. Try this one from L'Heptade;

@Nag; Thanks man. It's great to receive a compliment from you, dear colleague. I think that my English is improving thanks to all the reviews I'm reading. The best way to learn a foreign language is still by practicing it orally, but unfortunately, I don't really have the occasion to do so. I still feel weird for not having you on board. Imo, there is always room for ProgJect cos you manage to give them reviews a great look, and also we form a good team.

As for the trilogy, I could see you liking it Nag, it's a fact. And thanks for your pos. This one is very special for me.

Thanks man.

I let you 2 essentials (very VDGGish). The second one is from Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night.

an excellent album from a somewhat neglected solo artist, sadly. well done, indeed.

this and over are some of his best work, imo

@SmersH; Yes, Over is a great album, especially when I think of songs like Time Heals and Yoga. And the violins everywhere are very welcome.

@Hernan; Thanks a lot, man. If you like this one (and I'm sure you will, according to your VDGG's ratings), don't miss both Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night and In Camera. They all form a trilogy.

Good work Jethro.
I've heard some of his solo albums, but honestly I don't remember much.

Thank you my friend. One thing is sure, this is a good starting point. He's so prolific it's hard to go through his entire career.

I'm listening to A louse is not a home right now.
Great stuff. David Bowie must have taken tons of influence from Hammill.
I'm really digging this. I'll have to stream this whole album.

There's also an amazing similarity between David Bowie and Peter Hammill's vocal range. Glad you liked that song. Tell me what you think of the album.

@Jethro

Will do. I just found the albums, so I'm downloading them tonight and giving them a listen tomorrow. I'm looking forward to hearing this. Are you reviewing the other two albums? you definitely should.

I was not planning to cover the trilogy, but now that you talk about it, it sounds like a project. Here's a foretaste from In Camera; it's called ''Faint-Heart and the Sermon'';

Another essential one from The Silent Corner; ''A Louse is not a Home'';

Enjoy!

''Faint-Heart and the Sermon'' was good. Primarily focused on his vocal power, and the mellotron/synth combo is a treat on headphones (2:14 especially). It's got a haunting kind of melody, reminded me a little of The Zombies' "Butchers Tale" that's kind of why I dig this style. (kind of an odd connection, but it did come to mind)

I loved "Louse is not a Home". Really great sound, but it's mostly made up of VdGG members so there's not way I wasn't going to like it. I'm really excited to here these in full.

"There's also an amazing similarity between David Bowie and Peter Hammill's vocal range."

-- I always thought Hammill and Rob Halford ('70s era) sound exactly alike. Anyone else?

I'm glad you enjoyed these two songs. I feel you'll have a good time in the world of Peter Hammill.

You're so right for Rob Halford. The resemblance is striking. Nobody else comes to mind for now.

Edit; And I get your Zombies' reference very well.
