Staff aren't paid as far as I know, but they do get promo copies of shit. Sputnik is kind of a big deal.
But around Dec-Jan they'll probably put out a call for applicants for the contrib position. Only thing is, I think there are already several contribs/staff who prog hard. Omaha, Necro, Voivod and Greg84 immediately come to mind.

I don't think so. I think they just split up whatever promos come in on a first-come first-serve basis, but all of Omaha's reviews are prog so it appears he has dibs on most of the prog releases that come through. Brendan and Rob do a fair bit of them too.

Idc what reviews I'd do really but I could always review other stuff on the side too. If it's a genre I'm not too familiar with I'd have to educate myself obviously. Assuming I would even get the title. That's a long time away haha

Don't sweat it man. More than anything I think they are looking for people willing to do fairly frequent reviews at a consistently good level and you've definitely done that so far.

Yup. When I became serious about becoming a contrib, I started bringing out review after review since October of that last year. Either late January or early February was when we applied, so for a few months I was reviewing almost daily. As we're getting closer to applications now, really keep the pace up with reviewing, as well as occasionally reviewing some new releases. You don't have to do the latter, but it improves your chances of getting the spot. Hope that helps :]
I'm gonna be applying for the staff spot this application round. Even though I got banned earlier, I think I've been proving to the mods that I won't make any more ridiculous ad overly profane posts like the one I did. But yeah, I guess we'll see.

Necro did something legendary. It was the Led Zeppelin IV of profane soundoffs, and he followed it up with the Led Zeppelin II of short fiction stories. They were the kind of posts which Sput users speak about in hushed whispers when they're afraid that Deviant might hear them. It also got Necro banned for two months; the longest such ban ever earned by a Contrib I think.
