"the most genuinely inspired band in all of metalcore."
I donno man, this is generically melodic. And jeez, their breakdowns are so fucking weak and generic, they shouldn't even bother with it

It all comes across as earnest to me. And to be frank, I don't think this is technically anything really different from what other metalcore bands release; it's just more consonant for me, and I really enjoy their particular instrumentation, melodies, breakdowns, etc.
So like, you're entitled to your opinion, no matter how misled it is ;)

Sorry, I wasn't trying to say it's bad. I just think it's more self inspired than being originally inspired and that bothers me. For me inspiration is creating something new, this is hardly even different than Impulse.

Less autotune=moar feels

The guitar player can sing, but it was probably alot of pitch correct on Impulse, not autotune. But the ability to sing better does not mean inspired, it's the realization of being able to do better. I hear more of a realization than anything at all inspiring in all. Yes, we're inspired by our influences and I hear nothing more than influences here. Not trying be a dick, it's just an evaluation of how I feel listening to this

Iunno, I feel dat soul, man. And for me, the lyrics are what makes it shine through as genuine. Erra is self-aware, conscientious, and their music reflects it for me, rather than feeling overplayed or cheesy, that's all. If you don't pick up that same vibe, maybe it's because it just doesn't resonate with you in the same way.

I definitely wanna jam it more to make an overall decision. But I think melodically it's nothing new, not even from Impulse. So far I think Hybrid Earth is an excellent tune. I just think they could be more melodically diverse, I mean it is what makes the MUSIC of it. Misery Signals have already done plenty of what Erra try to accomplish

They didn't have a bass player so the guitar players did it themselves, that's great but I could have been mixed alot louder. It's nothing special though, I could easily do better; nothing special at all

Dementia is fucking gnarly.

No offense but if you think mixing louder is the solution you could not do better.

Definitely loved the album it was incredible. Heart from Impulse is still my favorite song though, the ending is so beautiful. That said, I think I enjoy this album more as a whole than I do Impulse. But, that's not saying much since both albums are really good.

"when the idea of just plopping the definition struck me, I just mentally went "YOLO" and stuck with
it."
Never a good idea with writing, haha, though I getcha
I just find that introducing an album by providing the direct definition of its title, something
along those lines, is trite at this point. it's def hard to come up with good intros, though, which
is something I struggle with sometimes.
Seriously you would be much better off by just starting this a sentence later-- "metalcore upstarts
Erra have certainly augmented". subtler, which would work in your favor

Erra prove they are perhaps the most genuinely inspired band in all of metalcore.

Jockstrap I really like what I've heard thus far. I just hope it's more consistently solid than Rebirth was, there was some meh stuff on that record
