good review, even if I do disagree. made me lol

I'm just curious how many people think these guys are Circa Survive-lite, because I hear very little similarities in the bands' sound. Songs like Honey Revenge have obvious ties to Green's vocals, but the rest of this shit is terrain Circa would never tread.

I don't necessarily agree with Eli's points, but the end result is about the same.

"The most notorious being the singular ~hip-hop~ found at the end of the eponymous song, which really
just amounts to “black man shouting.”"

One of the worst reviews I've read on this site. Your writing is insulting, littered with sweeping statements, and backed with very little analysis.
Also you spelled Craig's name wrong. It's Jonny, not Johnny. Just in case you were trying to be professional.

i love that people are actually going after a staff member, that's my favorite part of this review that i didn't read.
|
| |
i mean we could be elitist pricks and tell them their taste sucks
or we could be elitist pricks and tell them they're users and eli's staff/has proven himself
or we could be elitist pricks and tell them to write their own review
or we could be elitist pricks and point them to an "actually bad review" and link them to one of the 4-4.5 reviews of this (none of which are actually particularly bad)
or we could be elitist and veteranist (if that's a word) pricks and point them to eli's koi no yokan review where people said exactly the same thing and say "look, he's still a staff member! and you all are probably gonna leave the site before he does" (link: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/53479/Deftones-Koi-No-Yokan/)
or we could be reasonable and say "realize that eli, as someone who's not really a fan of this album, didn't find it worthwhile to fully immerse himself in the mythology of a band he dislikes, knowing full well it wouldn't help his score. so what if he didn't say goat chad or whatever, it's a well-written review that looks on the whole genre with a wonderfully cynical take, like it or not."
but that's too much to ask right?
