I dunno it's just that the album is relentlessly heavy even more so than the debut, not to mention the lenght, so when that

closer came It felt simply appropriate and beautiful. Yes the Usher is fantastic, not to mention Fat of the Ram and Cosey

moe, the only song that hasn't completely clicked with me would be Affliction

I dig Affliction just fine. It's inspired by the shooting in one of Salt Lake City's malls in 2007. For me, the first 3 tracks are the best.

Their debut is better but not by much.

Yeah it's more concise with just as much quality songwritting, this release is more ambitious with longer songs and so a few of the heavier parts really feel like they needed a tad triming. Gotta say though that some of the vocals and especially the violins got even better this time, when they come in things get magical.

@Wizard:

You mean their Profound Lore debut, right? This is really their fourth album. All their previous stuff is available on bandcamp.

@MrElmo:

Yes. I agree.

Yeah their albums before profound lore really can't compare . Also toke the time to read the lyrics and stories behind every song, some pretty good writing too, made me get Affliction and especially why it sounds so tortured.

Just revisited their previous album, and yeah... this is a much heavier and darker effort by comparison. I prefer this.
