Black Clouds is definitely one of their better post-Scenes albums. Better than the sea of mediocrity that surrounds it that's for sure.

I'm with JT for once. The s/t is among their worst and I thought that BC&SL was very refreshing. It just sadly had some appalling moments *cough* Portnoy growl *cough*

Nah, Train of Thought was great for me, except Honor Thy Father and This Dying Soul. Black clouds needs more love though. It's no where near as bad as what everyone makes it out to be

If I may interfere, BCSL was blunt, repeating and seriously, don't they reuse some melodies? Why? For me, their best post-6deg. is SC.

Systematic Chaos is my least DT overall. I'd say BC&SL is the one I enjoy most since Six Degrees.

They reused some melodies because it was the final part of Portnoy's 12 suite saga or whatever it was, so he tried to use the stuff from the previous parts but it didn't work of great and sounded lame sadly. BC&SL wasn't blunt at all. I don't remember hearing a DT song like The Best Of Times since the stuff from 6DOIT. It's a huge step up from all of the albums recently before and after

The Best of Times is really cheesy, The Shattered Fortress is probably the best song on here, especially the instrumental version

Octavarium's t/t makes it my favorite since 6 Degrees. Fantastic song.

I'd only really call the first half of The Best Of Times cheesy. The second half is far superior. I wish Labrie didn't exaggerate some of his lines and was a bit more subtle but oh well. It's not gonna get any better

Octavarium in general, is a fairly solid album to be honest.

Was also going to make a LaBrie subtlety comment haha.

He has his subtle moments like the acoustic part on The Best of Times or the first half of Anna Lee.

I'd say the only tracks on Octavarium that suck are I walk Beside You and Never Enough.
