"honestly though i think it's fair to say that hypnagogic pop replicates this shit in ethos"

?????? how???

"don't really hear post-punk or dub in this" post-punk as in that general experimental/underground 80s era of sound with low depressive off-key vocals (the influence is much more pronounced in john maus's music), dub as in the echo, reverb, sound effects...

this is probably most where the john maus and arthur russell comparisons come from - very calling out of context - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLVpZme0kRQv (actually this track isn't even hypnagogic pop)

This is one of the most intimate reviews I've ever read. I've had a hard time connecting with this album and hope that one day down the road I'll listen to this again and think of you, and maybe you wont be quite as lost.

brick walls are what I used to describe albums that would be between a 2/5 and 3/5 bc they elicit

almost nothing from me. they are usually of electronic or abstract genres like spiderland, aphex twin,

this, etc.

basically "i don't get it", in a way that isn't unimpressed, but is still a decidedly hollow feeling.

also includes some noisey/gazey and black metal albums because at some point it just

sounds like my tinnitus and I can't distinguish between the two.

i'd say just give it more time, immediately listen to it whenever it pops up in mind

the hollow feeling will definitely fill (at least it did for me)

your current situation w/ world of echo sounds pretty promising to me X)

also nice invisible text.. hope your tinnitus gets better dude

this is really great way of putting it & I know exactly what you mean. Spiderland is a perfect example (although i think i've penetrated it now) (;))
